Program Description

Want to be in the biomedical workforce? Well, the Cancer, Developmental and Regenerative Biology (CDRB) graduate program can prepare you with the skills and information needed for successful careers as researchers and educators.

The thesis or research Master of Science degree provides training for individuals who will become technicians involved in biomedical research in universities or in the biotechnology industry. The non-thesis Master of Science degree provides content appropriate for secondary teachers seeking advanced training in areas such as molecular biology, cancer biology, developmental biology, and regenerative medicine; and for students seeking admission to a professional school, such as medicine or dentistry.

By the end of this program, the graduate should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a broad knowledge of the biomedical sciences;
  2. Demonstrate subject mastery in cancer, developmental, or regenerative biology;
  3. Interpret the current literature in the field;
  4. Design hypothesis-driven studies to address key questions in the field;
  5. Make original contributions to the body of biomedical knowledge;
  6. Demonstrate the principles of scientific and professional ethics;

    Notes

    Please reference the Admissions Requirements.

    • Estimated amounts are for the academic year specified only. Amounts are based on full-time attendance for the number of months enrolled per academic year. International students need to calculate 12 months of living expenses based on these amounts.
    • Amounts are expected to increase each year consistent with inflation in the professional education sector.
    • To qualify for financial aid, most students must be enrolled at least half time in an aid eligible program and be taking degree requirements. Half time is 6 units in a quarter for undergraduate programs and 4 units in a quarter for graduate programs.
