Who is eligible to apply?
LLUH accepts applications from local Seventh-day Adventist K-12 schools. Priority will be given to Loma Linda Academy, Mesa Grande Academy and Redlands Adventist Academy. Secondary consideration will be given to all other schools in the Southeastern California Conference.
What are the program areas that LLUH supports?
LLUH supports projects at the local Seventh-day Adventist elementary schools and academies that support education, wellness, and student life. We are particularly interested in projects/programs that support academic excellence, particularly in the areas of STEM.
May we submit additional requests for different projects within the same year?
LLUH will only review one request per year for projects outside of the event sponsorship scope. We ask that schools only apply for one program/project at a time. However, you may submit requests for event/program sponsorships throughout the funding cycle, which will be vetted through our sponsorship committee. Grants will we awarded in a three-year cycle for to Loma Linda Academy, Mesa Grande Academy and Redlands Adventist Academy and a five-year cycle to all other schools in the Southeastern California Conference.
What is the timeline?
All grant applications are due my May 1, or the Monday following if May 1 falls on a weekend. Grants will be awarded the following September.
Should I submit a program/project budget?
Yes, please provide an overall budget for the program/project for which you are seeking funding. Please also include a plan for future sustainability of the project/program.
How do I apply for a grant?
To apply for a grant, please complete the application form found at https://home.llu.edu/grant-funding-application. Once an application is completed, it will be presented to LLUH Executive Leadership for vetting and approval. A W9 form must be submitted along with your application
How will I learn if my school’s proposal is accepted?
If your application for funding is accepted, a representative from LLUH will contact you to discuss details.
Can we apply for funding for individual student scholarships or salaries?
No, LLUH funding support will not be given on an individual basis, but to project-centered initiatives.
How much funding should my school request?
The maximum amount available to fund each year is $50,000. In an effort to share resources consistently, LLUH will consider how many students are served by the program/project for which you are requesting funds. Your funding request should be proportionate with your school budget and the program/project budget.
With so many programs/projects, how do we know for which we should apply?
You should apply for programs/projects that best enhance your school’s mission. Generally speaking, Loma Linda University Health evaluates sponsorships based on:
- Projects/programs that support academic excellence, particularly in the areas of STEM.
- The location and scale of the opportunity.
How can we recognize LLUH?
LLUH appreciates the opportunity to support our community. We appreciate naming or other recognition consistent with your stewardship program, specifics of the project/program and amount of funding.
What reports does LLUH require?
LLUH requests that you submit bi-annual reports on the progress of the project/program, including: Brief update on progress of project/program; Budget process; Challenges; Successes; Outcomes; Sustainability Plan
Are there areas LLUH will not fund?
LLUH does not fund the following:
- Political affiliations
- Lobbying or advocacy groups
- Labor organizations
- Third-party fundraising organizations
- Individuals or for-profit businesses
- Solicitations to advertise
