Thomas Lemon, BA, MDiv, Boards of Trustees Chair

Thomas Lemon, BA MDiv. was recently elected as the Board Chair of LLUH at its December 2016 regularly scheduled meeting.  Lemon has served on the LLUH Board since 2010.

He is a 1975 graduate of Southwestern Adventist University with a BA in Theology.  He received his Master of Divinity degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in 1978.  His service with the Seventh-day Adventist Church began as a pastor in Hagerstown Maryland in 1975.  He continued serving in pastoral roles in the greater Washington/Baltimore corridor until 1991 when he took a similar position in Dallas, Texas.

He was invited to serve as Assistant to the president of the Rocky Mountain Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (Colorado, Wyoming and San Juan County, New Mexico) in 1996, a position he held until 2002.  In that year he became the Ministerial Director of the Oregon Conference.  He was elected president of the Minnesota Conference in late 2006 and became the Executive Secretary of the Mid-America Union Conference in 2009.  He was elected its president in 2010.  During his years in Minnesota and MAUC he served on the boards of three Higher Educational Institutions and Adventist Health Systems in Orlando Florida, and Centura Health in Denver, Colorado, as well as several local hospital community boards.

Lemon is married to Jan Elmendorf Lemon, BS,  who served as an elementary teacher in several schools in following her husband’s career.  She currently is the Admissions coordinator for the Physician Assistant program at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska.  They have two adult children and 4 grandchildren.
