About DaLiao Xiao, PhD, DVM

Since being employed as a faculty in LLU School of Medicine, I have consistently participated in the research projects of maternal cardiovascular system and fetal development during the course of pregnancy. My early career has focused on the fundamental mechanisms of cellular and molecular regulation, in relation to signaling pathways and gene regulation involved in pregnancy- and hypoxia-induced changes in uteroplacental circulation. Recently, I have expanded my research to mainly focusing on the fetal programming of adult cardiovascular dysfunction in response to other adverse intrauterine environment, such as fetal nicotine exposue/e-cigarette exposure, gestational diabetes or other drugs exposure, which could help us to better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying perinatal environment-induced cardiovascular disease and develop the interventions aimed at alleviating the deleterious consequences of intrauterine programming.
