On this page, you'll find information about academic life at Loma Linda University during COVID-19. Classes continue to be held either online, in-person with safety precautions, or both.
For more details about these changes, please contact your school's administration.
We are continuing to work hard toward quality education under San Bernardino County COVID-19 guidance. At this time, we are following guidance under the Red Tier:
- Capacity for indoor lectures and student gatherings must be limited to 25% or 100 people, whichever is less; this can include testing where in person testing is superior, rites of passage where students are participating alone without family, 6-ft distancing must be maintained.
- Some courses conducted in certain indoor settings, like labs and studio arts, may be open at regular capacity (applies to all specialized labs/clinical skills labs, 6-ft distancing recommended to the extent possible, including specialized lab tests, etc.).
- Conduct student activities virtually when possible (offer hybrid/virtual for activities that do not absolutely require in-person attendance, continue online for coursework that can be taught at reasonably high-quality level virtually).
- Social activities will continue online at this time for campus clubs and groups.
Commencement 2021 is tentatively scheduled for May 28-30 and June 11-14. Due to the pandemic, this year's commencement ceremonies will take place using the drive-thru approach, one vehicle per graduate. The event and schedule may change — please refer to the commencement page for the latest updates.
Students who hold the F-1 student visa who register for a full-time course load and are registered for at least one course that is face-to-face, or hybrid that requires a physical presence on-campus or in-person learning during the course, will be able to maintain their F-1 immigration status and remain in the U.S. for Spring quarter. Please contact International Student and Scholar Services at 909-558-4955 for questions.
The Offices of University Records, University Admissions, Student Accounts and Financial Aid are physically closed. However, full services are available by phone, email and in-person (as necessary by appointment)
