The federal government has an updated regulation effective July 1, 2020 requiring all institutions enrolling students in programs for which a specific professional license or certification is required by a state for employment to disclose information regarding whether completion of the institution’s program is sufficient to meet the licensure or certification requirements in the state for that occupation. This applies to all states.

Undergraduate:

BS:  All graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX exam (National Council Licensure Examination).  Passing this exam gives the person the right to use the title Registered Nurse (RN).  This is accepted by all states through endorsement (reciprocity).   This does not apply to the RN  to BS, as they already possess the RN designation.  They receive the BS, but no further license or certification is needed for employment.

Graduate:

MS: Nurse Educator and Nursing Administration – RN required prior to taking program.  Certification is available in both areas but not required for employment.

DNP:  All students are required to have a California RN and are eligible to take the national certification exam appropriate for that clinical focus. Requirement for the certification varies:

Pharmacy

In order sit for licensure in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico, an individual must simply graduate from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council on Pharmacy Education (ACPE). LLU School of Pharmacy has been continuously accredited by ACPE since our founding in 2002; therefore, a PharmD degree from LLU qualifies the graduate to sit for the licensure exams in every state and territory.  There are no further requirements for licensure as a pharmacist. 

 

Public Health

Meet the criteria to sit for the Certification in Public Health (CPH) exam, which requires a CEPH-approved program.  Government employers (local, state and federal levels) are increasingly moving in the direction of requiring the CPH credential to work, especially at the master’s level (MPH).

Meets the criteria for the students to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).  Many employers of Health Educators are requiring this credential of applicants.
