Program Description

PROFESSION 
The Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (PP-OTD) is an advanced post-professional degree for practicing occupational therapists who have a degree in occupational therapy. The mission of the PP-OTD program is to graduate leaders in occupational therapy who are entrepreneurs in advancing practice and promoting health and participation at the individual, community, and societal levels. The PP-OTD is an online program that will take approximately two years to complete. It is a combination of online classes, research, and professional rotation developed by the student in a specific area of interest - this is the capstone of the program.

Admissions Requirements

To be eligible for admission, the applicant must have the following:

1. A master’s degree in occupational therapy or a related field, from an accredited institution

2. Six months of professional practice preferred

3. Minimum GPA of 3.0 in graduate studies

4. Certified in occupational therapy in the United States, or an occupational therapy degree from a World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT) approved program outside of the United States

5. Copy of current state license/certification in a US jurisdiction as a registered OT, and NBCOT certification if US applicant

6. Copy of current state licensure if US applicant, and country licensure and education verification if a foreign applicant

    • Estimated amounts are for the academic year specified only. Amounts are based on full-time attendance for the number of months enrolled per academic year. International students need to calculate 12 months of living expenses based on these amounts.
    • Amounts are expected to increase each year consistent with inflation in the professional education sector.
    • To qualify for financial aid, most students must be enrolled at least half time in an aid eligible program and be taking degree requirements. Half time is 6 units in a quarter for undergraduate programs and 4 units in a quarter for graduate programs.
