Course Description:

This course will explore the history, influences, and rationale of the development of the Intuitive Eating model, a widely recognized model created by two dietitians.

Key topics will include:
How and why interoceptive awareness is a key to physical health and wellbeing.
How the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating either improve interoceptive awareness or remove obstacles to body attunement.
How and why a focus on weight loss interferes with the process of Intuitive Eating.  
Research update on benefits of Intuitive Eating (there are over 125 studies to date).

Objectives:

At the end of this course the attendee will be able to:

  1. Describe three evidence-based benefits of Intuitive Eating.
  2. Identify how interoceptive awareness is a foundational process of Intuitive Eating
  3. List three reasons a weight inclusive or HAES approach is a key component of Intuitive Eating
