Welcome from President Hart
Welcome to the web pages of Loma Linda University Health. We are pleased to share with you our special mission to further the healing and teaching ministry of Jesus Christ.
Our goal is to offer you an inspiring overview of our various Loma Linda institutions and provide you with specific information you may be seeking about Loma Linda. As you explore these pages, you will learn how our mission statement is fulfilled through our students, our faculty and staff, our patients, and our Church.
Loma Linda University: Our primary responsibility at this Seventh-day Adventist health sciences university is the education of more than 4,000 students, who come from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. This education enables our students to acquire the foundation of knowledge, skills, values and behaviors appropriate for their chosen academic or healthcare ministry.
Loma Linda University Medical Center & affiliates: An outgrowth of the original Sanitarium on the hill in 1905, the present 11-story Loma Linda University Medical Center opened on July 9, 1967. With the completion of the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital in late 1993, more than 900 beds are available for patient care, including at Loma Linda University Medical Center East Campus, Loma Linda University Surgical Hospital and the James M. Slater, MD, Proton Treatment & Research Center. The Medical Center operates some of the largest clinical programs in the United States in areas such as neonatal care, and is recognized as the international leader in infant heart transplantation and proton treatments for cancer. Each year, the institution admits more than 40,000 inpatients and serves 1.5 million outpatient visitors. As the only tertiary-care hospital in the area, the Medical Center is the only level one regional trauma center for Inyo, Mono, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center delivers the most advanced and inclusive mental healthcare in the Inland Empire. The facility holds 89 beds and offers a full range of psychiatric and substance abuse services.
Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta blends the latest technology and high-touch care to offer patients a calming, healing environment. The 106-bed hospital is the first in the Murrieta and Temecula region to provide open heart surgeries, and has conducted 500 since opening in 2011.
Loma Linda University Healthcare is a foundation model corporation that supports the operation of the faculty practice plan, which comprises more than 900 physicians.
Thank you for your interest in Loma Linda. Happy surfing.
